Madison Ride the Drive Jun 3 2012

Sunday, June 3, 2012 - 10:30 to 14:00

We had an amazing time at Ride The Drive!  Thanks to all the Madison Freakbike Union who came out with their freaky steeds.

I think we had a total of 7 tallbikes and the tandem trike.  It was a great turnout and a really fun event!  So many creative bikers in Madison!  I didn't see any art bikes, but there were plenty of folks in costumes.  We also met up with the Greasy Gears and rode with them for a while.

Standing Bike

I just built a seatless bike!

Trike Update Jan 24th

I've got some pics of the new argon bottle and regulator!  I'm simply in love with this thing - it makes welding so much easier - obviously better penetration, no slag to chip, a smoother weld.  I can't say enough good things about it.  :D
It's an 80 cuft tank - they fill it to around 1900 psi.
The one problem I have is that the valve in my welder LEAKS - very slowly, but noticably, without pulling the trigger, there's a hissing sound at the nozzle.  Remember to shut off the main valve when not working.

Levi's Tallbike

Levi built this, his first tallbike! For a quick build, he used the 'kinky' steering system.

It has a single speed with a coaster (back-pedal) brake.

Erik Builds a Tallbike

We spent about 2 hours last night building a tallbike for our friend and freak Erik.

We're about half way done with it - the frame is fully welded except for the steerer/fork. After that, we need to hook up the drive train and brakes. It also wouldn't hurt to pull it apart and grease up all the bearings - a good practice for any older bike.
